Description

This gateway, located approximately 30 metres to the north-west of Old Hall Farmhouse, dates back to 1742. It is constructed from ashlar magnesian limestone and features square columns with projecting bands of decorated rustication. These columns support a keyed lintel that is topped by a frieze, which includes a carved device in the central panel and rusticated corner blocks. The cornice is adorned with scrolls that flank a vase finial. On the rear side, the central panel of the frieze is inscribed with 'PAX 1742'.
