Description

The gateway and attached front garden walling, located immediately west of Newlands Farmhouse, dates from 1622 and the 19th century. It features ashlar Ham Stone with moulded jambs, capitals, and a semi-circular arch that has roll and wave moulding. Above the arch, there is a moulded cornice and pediment, which is adorned with three tall tapering finials at both ends and the apex. The date "1622" is inscribed on the pediment. Flanking the gateway are coursed and squared rubble walls that extend for 9 meters to the north and south, with a ramped section at the north end.
