Description

TODWICK KIVETON LANE SK48SE (west side) 4/98 Outbuilding approximately 30 metres to north-west of Todwick Old Hall

GV II

Farmbuilding possibly of domestic origin. Late C17, altered. Coursed, dressed sandstone, pantile roof. 2 storeys, 2 windows to 1st floor. Large quoins. South side: has 2 blocked ground-floor openings beneath two 3-light, double- chamfered windows now without mullions. Rear: doorway flanked by casements, plain lintels. Right return: remains of large double-chamfered window probably of 4 lights but now bricked-up, part of dripstone remains; blocked 2-light window to gable. Left return: within later cartshed (not of special interest) are stone steps to a 1st-floor doorway having chamfered ashlar surround; another similar doorway on right of steps is blocked. Interior: original floor structure with chamfered transverse beams. Early-C19 roof trusses. Attached farmbuildings not of special interest.
