Description

This is a farm building, likely once used as stables, located approximately 200 yards west of Over Tabley Hall. It dates from the late 17th century and is constructed of red English garden wall bond brick with stone dressings and a tiled roof. The building has two storeys with an attic.

On the north gable end, there is a stone plinth and stone quoins. It features two ground floor windows with chamfered stone surrounds on the right, although a 20th-century window has been added. The first floor has similar windows with 20th-century casement lights, and the attic is bricked in.

The south front was originally similar to the north but now has a 20th-century window on the left and a loft doorway to the first floor that interrupts a three-light stone-surrounded and mullioned window.

The east front is partially hidden by a two-storey 19th-century lean-to, but there is evidence of three ground floor doorways with stone quoins and heavy lintels, as well as three three-light windows on the first floor that resemble those on the north and south fronts.

The west front has later doors on the right and left, along with three-light windows on the first floor. A 19th-century structure was previously in the centre but has since been demolished and replaced by buttressed 20th-century walling.
