Description
Peacock Lodge West to Tabley House, along with its gatepier and railings, is a lodge built around 1770, likely designed by John Carr. It is constructed of red Flemish bond brick and features a slate roof with lead flashings. The lodge is a single-storey building.
On the road front, there is a stone base with a central sash window consisting of three by four panes, set within a moulded frame in a blind arch. Above this window is a stone Doric entablature. The roof is pyramidal, topped with a central square chimney that has stone moulding at the top. Bowed railings are positioned in front of the window.
To the left, there is a pilaster-gate-pier with railings leading to a square gate pier that has a moulded pyramidal cap with a flat apex. This cap supports a wrought iron lamp bracket decorated with anthemion and patera motifs. A bowed wall on the right side shields an outshut. The rear of the lodge is similar to the front, while the left side elevation mirrors the front but features a six-panel door instead of a window.
