Description
The south-western farm building at Dale Side, dating from 1685, was originally a house. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a corrugated asbestos roof. The building has two storeys, with a projecting wing on the north side, likely housing the staircase. A continuous drip course runs along the building. To the left of the wing, there is a door with plain reveals, while to the right, each floor has a rebated and chamfered window, with the ground-floor window retaining its central mullion. At the far right, there is a door with a moulded surround and an embattled lintel inscribed 'RT 1685'. The gabled wing includes a one-light rebated and chamfered window on the ground floor and another one-light chamfered window under the apex. The left-hand return wall has a blocked window at an intermediate level, featuring one transom. The rear wall is now blank but shows traces of blocked openings. The interior was not fully accessible during the survey.
