Description
The barn located to the north-west of The Cragg Farmhouse dates back to 1744. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The north-west wall has a wide entrance with a segmental arch, while the rest of the wall is blank. The gables are topped with copings and kneelers. On the north-east gable wall, there are two ground-floor windows with plain stone surrounds. The central door is framed by long-and-short jambs, and above it is a plaque inscribed with 'W P E 1744'. There is also an owl hole with a stone surround above the plaque, and under the apex of the gable, there are pigeon holes. Inside, the barn has three trusses with tie beams and light collars, incorporating some reused cruck material.
