Description
This barn, located approximately 20 metres southeast of Sandbeck Lodge Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century and was built for the Sandbeck estate. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone and has a pantile roof. The barn is two storeys high and consists of five bays. It features large quoins and a central waggon entrance that is quoined, with wooden doors and a segmental arch above. To the left of the entrance are slit vents, and to the right is an inserted window. On the first floor, there is a boarded door with a flat arch leading to a square hatch on the left, and a similar blocked opening on the right, which is flanked by later openings. The barn has shaped kneelers and concrete gable copings. At the rear, there is a matching waggon entrance.
Inside, the barn has queen-strut, principal-rafter trusses, and a wooden crane is fixed between the central trusses. The attached farm buildings are not of special interest.
