Description
Thackeray Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse located on Brampton Road in Brampton-en-le-Morthen. The building is constructed from coursed, dressed sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan with a wing at the rear left and stands two storeys high, with three windows on the first floor. The farmhouse has dressed quoins and a central door set in an ashlar surround with a deep lintel. This door is flanked by two-light horizontally-sliding sash windows with glazing bars, which are housed in their original square-faced surrounds, although their sills have been lowered and the mullions removed. The first floor has similar windows, while a central single-light window remains unaltered, featuring a casement with horizontal glazing bars. The building is adorned with shaped kneelers and ashlar gable copings, and it has brick stacks at the ends. Most of the windows on the left return and in the angle of the plan have concrete lintels, while the gable of the rear wing matches the rest of the building.
