Description
A barn and stable with an attached cartshed/granary, dating from the late 18th century and the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone with a pantile roof. It is two storeys and nine bays in its main barn section, with a lower, two-storey, three-bay cartshed/granary attached to the rear-right corner. The central waggon entrance has a keyed segmental arch, heel stones, and ears in the impost for a harr-hung door. To the left are three rows of slit vents, and a stable door with segmental-arched openings on two floors to its right. To the right of the waggon arch, one bay has three rows of slit vents, and beyond that a stable door with a window above, all with segmental arches and keystones. Shaped kneelers and gable copings top the building, and there is a rebuilt end stack on the right. The rear features opposed waggon entrances, similar slit vents and openings without projecting keystones.
The cartshed/granary has external steps against its right side. The right return of the barn has a blocked first-floor doorway with a blocked window over, with arches matching the front. The right return of the cartshed has a brick side wall with three segmental arches, stone bases, springers, and keystones. Above those arches are three part-blocked windows. Shaped kneelers and gable copings are present on the right. The interior of the barn has principal-rafter trusses with heavy-scantling tie beams.
