Description

A barn and adjoining stables dating from the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings. The barn has a corrugated asbestos roof, while the stables have a corrugated iron roof, both with hipped ends. The barn is rectangular, with what was likely a hayloft above former stables and waggon sheds. A single-storey stable is set back to the right. The east front of the barn has three bays, and the stables have three bays set back to the right. The barn’s central stable doorways have a window above and are partly blocked, while wide waggon doorways are spanned by segmental arches with granite voussoirs and projecting keystones. There is an original window over the left-hand doorway, and an altered window over the right-hand doorway. A possibly later wide trap house doorway is at the far left, with a loading doorway above. A doorway at the far right has been altered to a window. The stable front has a doorway to the left of the middle. The lower parts of the stable windows may originally have had internal shutters, with three-paned top lights. The interior was not inspected.
