Description
Brampton Grange is a house located on Brampton Road in Brampton-en-le-Morthen, dating from the early to mid-18th century. The building is constructed from coursed, dressed sandstone with limestone dressings and features a 20th-century pantile roof. It has two storeys with attics and is arranged in a three-by-three bay layout. The corners of the building have chamfered quoins.
The entrance consists of a 20th-century panelled door with a six-pane overlight, set within an architrave that includes a pulvinated frieze and a plain cornice. The flanking windows, which were probably originally cross windows, have square-faced surrounds and 20th-century casements topped with boarded-panel infill. On the first floor, there is a band and windows similar to those on the ground floor, with the central window featuring a rusticated apron. The eaves cornice is cavetto-moulded and leads to a hipped roof that has two 20th-century roof lights and stacks on the side ridges, which have ashlar bases supporting later brick shafts.
At the rear, there is a 19th-century canted, one-storey bay window on the left. The right return of the building mirrors the front, although the windows in the central bay are narrower.
