Description

THURCROFT BRAMPTON ROAD SK48NE (west side), Brampton-en-le-Morthen 6/91 29.3.68 Brampton Grange [formerly listed as Grange Farm House (Brampton Grange) and as on Village Street] II House. Early-mid C18. Coursed, dressed sandstone with limestone dressings; C20 pantile roof. 2 storeys with attics, 3 x 3 bays. Chamfered quoins. C20 panelled door with 6-pane overlight in architrave with pulvinated frieze and plain cornice. Flanking windows (probably originally cross windows) have square-faced surrounds and C20 casements each with boarded-panel infill over. 1st floor: band; windows as ground floor, the central window with rusticated apron. Cavetto-moulded eaves cornice to hipped roof with two C20 roof lights and stacks to side ridges having ashlar bases to later brick shafts. Rear: C19 canted, 1-storey bay window on left. Right return: as front, windows of central bay are narrower.
