Description
Bramston House, the central building at No 28 on Market Place, dates from the late 17th century. It features an ashlar front and a steep stone slate roof that aligns with the adjacent buildings. The façade has four widely spaced windows, a moulded band at the first floor level, and a slight plinth. The windows are hung sashes with late glazing, nearly flush wooden cases, and wooden lintels. The central entrance has a low doorway framed by a wide moulded eared architrave, a pulvinated frieze, and a cornice, leading to an old panelled door. On the second storey, there is a blind lunette halfway up, and below it, resting on the band, is a plain tablet with an architrave and cornice. All the listed buildings in Market Place form a group.
