Description

The dovecote, located approximately 12 metres to the north-west of Adsetts Cottage, is an early 18th-century outbuilding. It is constructed from deeply-coursed dressed sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof. The structure is two storeys high and consists of a single cell with large quoins.

On the ground floor, there is a doorway to the left with a massive sandstone surround, and a small slit vent to the right. The first-floor door to the right also has a similar sandstone surround and a square-cut hoodmould that extends to the left, beneath a casement in a square-faced surround. The gable ends are adorned with shaped kneelers and ashlar gable copings. The rear of the building has a band beneath the upper floor, while the left return features a two-light square-faced mullioned window.

Inside, the renewed floor retains a chamfer-stopped transverse beam, and many of the nesting holes have been blocked. The roof construction has been renewed as well. There are attached outbuildings of later date, but they are not considered of special interest.
