Description
This is a dovecote located approximately 40 metres southwest of Vessey Close Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed, dressed sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The dovecote is square in shape and has two storeys, with a single cell. There is an inserted door with a wooden lintel and a continuous ledge near the eaves. The gable has shaped kneelers, although the copings have been removed. On the right side, there is a blocked original doorway within a later outbuilding, which is not of special interest, featuring a bonded ashlar surround. The gable has a continuous ledge with another deep ledge above it, along with a blocked two-light square-faced mullioned window. Inside, there are brick nesting holes on both storeys and ledges in the upper storey.
