Description
The Old Coach House is a coach-house and stable that has been converted into a dwelling, likely built in the early 19th century. It features coursed, squared, dressed red sandstone and a stone slate roof, with an L-shaped plan. The building is two storeys high and has a layout of one bay on the left and three bays on the right.
On the left side, there is a wing projection that includes a 20th-century casement window with glazing bars, projecting sills, and deep lintels on each floor. To the right, there is a large round-headed carriage entrance with a rebated quoined surround, which is now fully glazed, and slit vents on either side. A door with an oculus above it is located on the left return of the wing. The front gable of the wing has an end stack, while the main range has an eaves band and a hipped roof with a 20th-century stack set back on the right.
At the rear, there is a rebated, quoined basket arch on the left that now features a French window, with an oculus above it. To the right, there is an inserted door with an oculus above and two casement windows, along with slit vents. The Old Coach House was formerly the coach house for the rectory known as High Trees and is included for its group value.
