Description
The barn at Tyers Hill Farm, located approximately 5 metres to the north-west of the farmhouse, is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the 17th century. It has a timber-framed construction with a dressed-stone plinth wall and brickwork above, some of which is roughcast, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The barn consists of five timber-framed bays, with an additional bay added at the end closest to the house, and is mostly single-storey.
On the farmyard side, the barn is entirely roughcast. There is a 20th-century sliding door in the central bay of the timber-framed section, while the left-end bay features a boarded door and a small casement window. The left gable has shaped kneelers and copings that have been renewed in fireclay. The rear of the barn shows a stone plinth wall with a chamfered top edge and 20th-century brickwork above. The left side has exposed timber wall posts with braces connecting to the wall plate.
Inside, the barn retains its five-bay timber-framed structure, with numbered trusses, although some wall posts are obscured by wailing. There are straight braces connecting to the tie-beams of the principal rafter trusses, and the tie-beam of the left-end truss, now within the building, features soffit mortices. Straight wind braces are present on the single purlins.
