Description
Ardsley Manor House and Ardsley Manor Cottage is a former manor house that has been converted into two residences. It likely dates from the 17th century but has undergone significant alterations, primarily in the 19th century. The building is constructed of squared, coursed rubble, with a deeply-coursed right return (east) and features a stone slate roof.
The structure has two storeys, with 19th-century windows facing the road front (south). At the rear (east) end, there is a three-light double-chamfered window on the ground floor and a small fire window on the first floor. An ashlar stack is positioned at the eaves. The right return includes a near-central doorway with a chamfered, quoined surround, accompanied by a five-light double-chamfered window to its right, both of which are beneath a common dripmould. To the left, there is an added stone garage. The first floor features two 19th-century single-light unequal sash windows with glazing bars, while other windows are from the 19th or 20th centuries. Although the interior was not inspected during the resurvey, it is reported that the east end contains a panelled room with a carved overmantel.
