Description
Bradberry Balk Bridge is a bridge built around 1800. It is constructed from coursed, squared sandstone with tooled-ashlar voussoirs. The bridge features a single span with a rusticated elliptical arch and a band-rusticated ashlar soffit. The flanking abutment walls have a swept batter. There are projecting end piers that are connected by a cambered band beneath the parapet wall, which has weathered copings. Some of the copings are missing, and some have been replaced with concrete. The bridge crosses the Dearne and Dove Canal, which was constructed following an act of 1793 and opened in 1804, although the canal is now largely infilled.
