Description
This raised graveslab, dating from around 1763, is located approximately 30 metres northwest of the tower of the Church of All Saints in Hawksworth. It is made of sandstone and features two incised arched panels adorned with a relief of vines. The left panel commemorates Sarah, the wife of Joshua Hawksworth, who died on 3rd October 1736 at the age of 46. The right panel is dedicated to Joshua Hawksworth Senior of Silkstone, a yeoman who passed away on 14th April 1762 at the age of 73. Additionally, there is an inscription for Rebekah, the wife of Joshua Hawksworth, who died on 7th February 1763 at the age of 70, along with further inscriptions from 1803 and 1818.
