Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres to the west of Underbank Hall, dates from the early to mid-18th century and was re-roofed in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with a stone slate roof and features quoins. The barn has segmental-headed cart entries in the centre and to the right, both with quoined surrounds. There are two small entrances with deep lintels on the left and one on the right. The gable copings are hollow-chamfered and supported by cut kneelers, and there are three square pitching holes located at a high level. To the far left, there is a later attached building that is not of special interest. The rear of the barn has two opposed segmental-headed cart entries, which are partially blocked. On the right return, there is a 2-light double-chamfered window at the gable apex. Inside, the barn features sawn softwood trusses of 19th-century design.
