Description
The guide post, located opposite the east end of Kirkfield Close in Cawthorne, is likely from the mid to late 19th century. It is a square stone post topped with a pyramidal shape and features inscriptions on two sides. The mileages that were originally chiselled into the stone have been removed, presumably during the Second World War. The post indicates distances to Penistone, Huddersfield, and Barnsley, with pointing hands directing the way.
