Description
Red House is a house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings and has a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a double-depth plan and a symmetrical facade with three bays. The facade includes raised, rusticated ashlar quoins and a central six-panel door that has a moulded surround and a cornice supported by console brackets. There is a three-course brick band between the floors and twelve-pane sash windows in raised surrounds. The eaves cornice is moulded, and the gables have copings on moulded kneelers. Each end of the house has an ashlar stack with a moulded cornice.
The left side of the house has two bays, with a doorway on the right and an added three-light, canted, two-storey bay on the left. There are small square attic windows. The right side also has two bays with attic windows similar to the left and a central quoined doorway with a round-arched staircase window above.
Inside, there is a dog-leg stair featuring turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and a string.
