31 and 33 Darton Road

31 and 33 Darton Road are two houses that may have originally been one building, dating from the 17th century. Number 33, on the right, was remodeled in the mid-19th century, while number 31 has late 20th-century additions to the left and rear. The houses are constructed of coursed squared rubble with quoins and feature a stone slate roof. They are two storeys high.

Number 33 has a symmetrical arrangement of two 4-pane sash windows on each floor with a central doorway. To the right, there is a similar window on the first floor and a later ground-floor window that matches the style. Number 31 is a gabled cross wing with double-chamfered windows, including one 4-light window on the ground floor (with two mullions removed) and an adjoining fire window, as well as a 3-light window on the first floor. All windows have hoodmoulds, and there is a single light in the gable apex. The gable features moulded copings on moulded kneelers, although the finials are missing. There are three rebuilt stacks. The left return of this wing has a 3-light double-chamfered window on each floor, also with a hoodmould. The late 20th-century additions to the left are not of special interest, and there is a continuous outshut at the rear of number 33.

Inside, there are two stop-chamfered beams across the wing, but none of the original 17th-century internal arrangement appears to have survived.
