Description

Milestone located on the east side of Penistone Road in Kirkburton, dating from the early to mid 19th century. This triangular stone post is inscribed on two faces, indicating distances to Penistone and Huddersfield, with the measurements of 7½ miles and 5 miles respectively. Each inscription features a pointing hand to show the direction.
