Description

Hob Moor Milestone is a milestone from the mid to late 19th century, made of sandstone and faced with cast iron. The stone has a rectangular shape, while the lower part of the iron face is triangular. It features a semicircular top plate with inscriptions cast in raised letters. The top plate is inscribed with "TADCASTER & HOB MOOR ROAD YORK CITY." The left-hand face below states "TADCASTER 8 MILES LEEDS 22 MILES," and the right-hand face reads "YORK 1 1/2 MILES."
