Description
Milestone located approximately 10 metres west of number 211 on Tadcaster Road in Dringhouses. This milestone dates from the mid to late 19th century and is made of dressed stone and cast iron. It has a round-headed stone that is rectangular in shape, featuring a bolted-on front plate that is triangular in plan and a semicircular top plate. The inscriptions on the milestone include "TADCASTER & HOB MOOR ROAD, DRINGHOUSES" on the top plate, "TADCASTER 7 MILES; LEEDS 21 MILES" on the left face, and "YORK 2 1/2 MILES" on the right face. Number 211 is not included in this listing.
