SE5952SE MARYGATE 1112-1/12/633 Wall, railings and lamp standards approx 3 metres north of St Olave's Church

GV II

Wall with railings and lamp standards forming boundary to north side of St Olave's churchyard. Probably mid C19. Wall of red-brown brick in random bond with stone coping: railings and lamp standards of cast-iron. Wall with sloped coping approximately 1.5 metres high. Square section railings set diagonally, have arrow head tips: octagonal standards have tall conical finials. Lamp standards are fluted Doric columns raised on high square pedestals, rising into swan-necked brackets fitted with circular lamps, one of which is original. Included for group value as an integral part of St Olave's Church (qv).
