Description

This lamp standard, located approximately 10 metres west of York Minster, dates from around 1860 and was manufactured by the Walker Foundry in Walmgate, York. It is made of cast iron and features an octagonal column with trefoil-headed panelled sides, topped by a tapering octagonal shaft on a moulded pedestal. The design includes a plain cross bar and cusped, traceried spandrels. It has two square, tapering lanterns that are finished with acorn finials.
