Description
This is a house located at 30 Marygate in York, dating from the early 19th century with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of brick and has a slate roof.
The exterior features three storeys plus an attic and is composed of two bays. On the ground floor, the left-hand window is a sashed window, while the other windows are also sashed but without glazing bars. On the first floor, there is a mid-19th century canted oriel window on the left, which has segmental heads for the upper sashes, engaged shafts at the corners, and a cornice. The attic includes a flat-roofed dormer with a horizontally-sliding sash window that has glazing bars. To the right, there is a four-panel door with moulded borders and a fanlight above it. The timber pilaster doorcase is missing its cornice hood at the time of the survey. A chimney is located on the left side of the building.
The interior was not inspected, but records indicate that there are original fireplaces with cast-iron grates.
