Description
No. 34 Shambles is a house with a shop that dates from the 19th century and was rebuilt around 1960. It features variegated brick in stretcher bond, a brick dentil eaves course, and a steeply pitched pantile roof. The exterior has three storeys and a three-window front. The shopfront includes sunk-panel pilasters beneath a moulded cornice, which returns at the left end to a through passage. To the right, there is a glazed raised panelled shop door next to a shallow small-pane bow window with a deep sill. The first and second floor windows are 12-pane sashes with stone sills and flat arches. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for group value as an integral part of this important historic street.
