Description

This is a milepost located approximately 350 metres south of Strathard, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Mattisons of Bedale and is constructed from cast iron. The milepost has a triangular shape with a sloping upper face. The pointing hands on the side faces indicate distances in the wrong direction. The left face shows that Helmsley is 18 miles away, while the right face indicates York is 3 miles away. The sloping upper face is marked with "Bulmer East HD."
