Description

Newton House Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, with alterations made in 1987. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick in an irregular Flemish bond, with a pantile roof. The house is two storeys high and originally comprised three bays, with a lower wing added to the rear right, which has since been heightened. A pair of stone steps lead to a central doorway featuring a 20th-century six-panel door, a fanlight, and a pedimented wooden architrave. The windows are 20th-century 16-pane sashes with stone sills, set within original header-brick arches that are cambered on the ground floor. A first-floor band of three stepped courses runs around the building. The eaves feature table dentilling. The ends of the building have table stacks, and tumbled-in brickwork is visible on the gables. The building is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
