Description

SE 81 NE WEST HALT0N MAIN STREET (west side) Coleby 4/22 Stables approximately 20 metres north east of Coleby House Farmhouse

GV II

Stables. Late C18-early C19 with minor C19 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings. Pantile roof. Rectangular on plan. West front, facing yard: 2 storeys, 4 first floor openings. Quoins. 4 stable doors: tall central pair with wider ones to either side flanked by hatches and one sash window to left. Plank door to stairs at left end. First floor has 2 louvred and 2 boarded openings. All openings in brick surrounds, those on ground floor with segmental arches. First floor door to right return. Street elevation to rear has 9 small breathers and circular iron tie-bar ends to ground floor, and 4 louvred openings and a casement with glazing bars to first floor, all with stone sills and wooden lintels flush with eaves. Interior: 6-bay clasped purlin roof with large timber backets from wall plates to first floor tie-beams. Adjoining range to north of no special interest.
