Description
The building is a stable located approximately 20 metres north east of Coleby House Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with some minor alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings and has a pantile roof. The stable is rectangular in shape and features a west front that faces the yard. This front has two storeys and four openings on the first floor, with quoins present. There are four stable doors: a tall central pair with wider doors on either side, flanked by hatches, and one sash window to the left. A plank door leads to the stairs at the left end. The first floor has two louvred and two boarded openings, all set in brick surrounds, with the ground floor openings featuring segmental arches. There is also a first floor door on the right return. The rear elevation facing the street includes nine small breathers and circular iron tie-bar ends on the ground floor, along with four louvred openings and a casement window with glazing bars on the first floor, all having stone sills and wooden lintels that are flush with the eaves. Inside, there is a six-bay clasped purlin roof supported by large timber brackets extending from the wall plates to the first floor tie-beams. An adjoining range to the north is of no special interest.
