Description
The walls and railings enclosing the front garden of Coleby House Farmhouse date from around 1800 and were later modified in the 19th century. They are constructed from brick and brick-faced limestone rubble, topped with ashlar coping. The wrought-iron railings and gate feature prominently in the design. The walls on either side of the house have single round-headed doorways, each with blind radial fanlights; the doorway on the right is boarded, while the one on the left has a plank door. The adjoining ramped side walls enclose the front garden and terminate in square piers. A later 19th-century dwarf front wall, also with ashlar coping, includes railings with alternating straight and wavy vertical bars, urn finials, and a central gate that is accessed by a flight of four stone steps. This structure is included for its group value.
