Description

This is an early 19th-century terrace of eight properties, numbered 43 to 49 Waterside Road. The buildings are constructed of red brick with a pantile roof and a hipped profile. A stone band runs along the level of the first-floor window sills. Each property has three storeys and features eight hung sash windows with glazing bars, set within reveals and protected by carved keyblocks and rusticated, flat arches. A central elliptical carriage entry is marked by impost bands and a rusticated archway with a keyblock. Number 45 has a doorway with six fielded panels and an oblong fanlight featuring geometrical glazing bars, with panelled reveals. Number 47 has a similar doorway, although the door is modern, and a ground floor window has been altered. Number 49 has a 19th-century shop front with a pilaster surround and two modern windows. A left-hand passage doorway incorporates a lintel similar to those on the main entrances. Properties number 43 to 49 Waterside Road are considered to form a significant group.
