Description

The Steam Packet Public House is a late 18th-century building located at 73 Fleetgate. It is two storeys high, constructed of brick with a pantile roof and features tumbled brickwork on the gable ends. The building has stacks at both gable ends and a diagonal-set brick eaves cornice. On the first floor, there are three windows with brick voussoirs and no glazing bars, along with two stucco panels displaying the name and wares of the establishment. The ground floor has two modern public house windows and a central door with a rectangular fanlight above. A small stone plinth supports the structure. The Steam Packet Public House is part of a group that includes Nos 65 to 73 (odd), Fleetgate Post Office Nos 77 to 85 (odd), and Fleetgate House.
