Description
No. 50 Pearson Park is a house that has been converted into a day nursery. It was built in 1863 and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The building was designed by FW Hagen and is constructed of yellow brick with painted stucco dressings, topped by a hipped slate roof that features four side wall stacks.
The house has a plinth, rusticated quoins, and a modillion eaves cornice. It is two storeys high and has a five-window range. The centre is recessed and has a single window, which is flanked by hipped wings that each contain two windows. These windows are plain sashes with moulded surrounds and keystones.
A central portico is supported by panelled pilasters and features an enriched frieze and cornice. The entrance has a shouldered opening with a half-glazed door, sidelights, and a fanlight above. On either side of the entrance, there are canted bay windows with scroll brackets at the sill and cornice, which project forward at the angles. The right side of the building has a late 20th-century fire escape.
