Description
No. 11 James Street is a house that dates from the late 18th century and has undergone later alterations. It features roughly coursed and squared rubble walls that have been whitewashed, topped with a stone flagged roof. The building is low and has two storeys with a two-window range. There is an off-centre baffle entry that leads into a later 19th-century gabled porch, where the doorway is flanked by triangular-headed lights. To the right of the doorway is a small two-light mullioned window, while a longer window to the left has been renewed. Above the left window, there is a mullioned window, and to the right, a later casement window. The house has gable and axial stacks, and there is an outshut at the rear. The roof extends over what is now an open-fronted bay used as garages on the left, which features a central gable that contains a blocked stone mullioned window.
