Description
64 Newland is a house that has been converted into a day nursery. It dates from the late 18th century and mid 19th century, with alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof, which has a ridge stack and two external side wall stacks. The eaves are moulded, with brick eaves on the east side and a flat coped parapet. The house is two storeys high and consists of four bays, arranged in an L-plan.
The windows are plain sashes with rubbed brick heads. On the north front, to the right, there is a panelled doorcase with pilasters and a hood supported by brackets, which contains a part-glazed door and a fanlight. To the left of the door are two sash windows. Above the door, there is a smaller sash window, and to its left, two larger sash windows. To the right, there is a smaller sash window on each floor, with an even smaller sash window above them. The hipped rear wing, which is three storeys high, features segment-headed glazing bar sashes on the west side. The west gable was rebuilt around 1994 following the demolition of No. 66. The interior has not been inspected.
