Description
The stable and granary range located approximately 30 metres west of Moorend Farmhouse dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a later extension added in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with the later extension featuring yellow brick, and has a pantile roof. The building is rectangular in shape and forms the west side of a fold-yard.
On the east side, the structure is two storeys high and features six first-floor windows, with three windows in each section. There is a single-storey section with two windows to the south. The two-storey section has six round-arched doors, of which two are blocked, while the others have board doors with wrought-iron strap hinges. Beneath segmental stretcher arches, there are four ground-floor casements. The later section to the left has six breathers at first-floor level. The first-floor openings are segmental-headed, with three featuring wooden slatted ventilation hatches and three with casements. The building has a stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice and a hipped roof.
On the west side, the two-storey section includes a segmental-headed door to the right and a similar blocked opening to the left. There is a central external brick staircase leading to a first-floor door, flanked by three segmental-headed hatches on each side. A row of breathers is present at first-floor level to the right. The lower section features segmental and round-headed doors along with casements. This building is included for its group value.
