Description
Elm Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1840. It is constructed of red brick with a front made of stock brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, with a double-depth layout that includes a central entrance hall and a kitchen wing at the rear left.
The farmhouse stands two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. It has a plinth and three steps leading up to a six-panel door, which is topped by a 20th-century overlight and set beneath a wedge lintel. The windows are 12-pane sashes set in flush wooden architraves with stone sills, also beneath wedge lintels. The eaves are plain wooden, and the roof is hipped. There is a corniced side wall stack on the right, and a round-headed stair window with glazing bars is located on the left return.
Inside, the farmhouse features an open-well staircase with a turned newel post, plain balusters, and a ramped grip handrail. This staircase is similar in style to those found at The Old Vicarage in Luddington and The Cross Keys Inn in Market Place, Crowle. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
