Description
The farm buildings to the west of Moor House Farmhouse date from the late 18th century and were extended in the early 19th century. The 18th-century sections are constructed from large, roughly-squared stone, while the early 19th-century parts are made from squared tooled stone with tooled-and-margined dressings. The roofs are covered with Welsh slate, except for the pantiles on the northeast outshut. The buildings are arranged around a foldyard that opens to the south.
The east range, which is two storeys high, continues from the rear wing of Moor House farmhouse and features two segmental arches and a boarded pitching door. The north range is also two storeys. The left part, dating from the 18th century, has an arcade of five segmental arches and small windows directly beneath the eaves. The left gable has coping that is returned on deep footstones. The right part, built in the 19th century, includes two stable doors with a four-pane casement window in between, and the roof is hipped to the right.
The long single-storey west range, originally built in the 18th century, has been extended three times in the early 19th century to create labourers' cottages. The 18th-century section features a boarded door, a stable door, and two part-slatted windows, while the extensions include stable doors and boarded double doors. The left return of this range shows gable coping returned on deep footstones.
On the rear (north) elevation, there is a central external stair leading to a boarded door in a raking half dormer. To the left, there is a pent shed with boarded double doors and two small casements, and to the right, a pent shelter shed with a seven-bay arcade of square piers supporting timber lintels. The left return of the range displays slit vents and a pent outshut with a boarded door on the left return.
A brick shelter shed range in the centre of the yard and a brick extension to the rear of the north range are not of special interest.
