Description
The former Colliery Offices, now serving as the administration block for the Colliery Museum, was built in 1912 and restored around 1990. The building is constructed of yellow brick with ashlar dressing and features a slate roof with terracotta ridge pieces.
The north front has a prominent three-window center with single-storey wings on either side. The two-storey central gable contains three glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor, with a slightly wider central window. Above this is a large three-light casement window. The left wing features a sash window, a plain door, three additional sash windows, and another plain door. On the right side, there is a single panelled door followed by two sash windows.
The south front showcases a gabled two-storey center with three windows, flanked by single-storey wings. The central entrance has a plain door with an overlight, flanked by pairs of small sash windows, and features a small plaque inscribed "1912." Above this entrance is a large glazing bar sash window, flanked by smaller casements. To the left, there are three sash windows and a 20th-century doorway, while to the right, there are two sash windows and two inserted 20th-century doors.
This office building was originally constructed to accommodate the colliery manager, under-manager, clerks, and other officials, and it also included an office for the union representative.
