Description

SPROATLEY B 1238 HUMBERSIDE HOLDERNESS 5266 TA 13 SE (north side) 6/71 Police Station II Police Station. 1849. Grey brick with stone dressings, timber eaves cornice, slate roofs. Main block of 2 storeys and 3 bays, symmetrical elevation, with single-bay single-storey wing to left and 2-bay, 2-storey wing to right. 8-panel door with fanlight in round-headed opening with continuous chamfer bearing inscription:

POLICE STATION 1849

Round-headed sashes with margin-pane and radial glazing under round gauged brick arches to right and left. First floor: 6-pane sashes with sills. Bracketed moulded timber eaves cornice, hipped roof. Wing to left has similar window to those of main block ground floor; low coped parapet, flat roof. Wing to right has 4-panel door and 6-pane sash to ground floor, 4-pane and 6-pane sashes to first floor, all under cambered brick arches. Hipped roof, rear wall stack.
