Description

A terrace of ten houses at 2-16 Circular Drive, Port Sunlight, built in 1899 by W. and S. Owen. The houses are constructed of brick with a pebble-dash render and tile roofs. The terrace is two storeys high, with seven bays, a canted corner bay, and four bays extending to Primrose Hill. The third, fourth, and fifth bays project forward under jettied gables, while the end bay projects by one bay. The corner bay also projects and is topped with a gable. The windows are small-paned casements, with gauged-brick flat arches over those on the ground floor. First-floor windows feature four-light canted oriels; the first bay has a half-canted oriel. A cornice is situated above the first-floor window of the canted bay. The entrances feature gauged-brick flat arches and plank doors. The end bay has a projecting lateral stack adjacent to a half-canted window. There are six cross-axial stacks in total. The facade facing Primrose Hill has the first bay projecting under a gable and the second bay features a ground floor projection under a lean-to roof supporting a half-canted window with a cornice. The end bay on this facade has an oriel window with a tile-hung gable. The right return has a first-floor three-light window, with the central window being segmental-headed, and a twentieth-century casement. A drip mould runs over ground floor diapering to the first floor. The rear elevation is similar and includes privies.
