Description
Nos. 31, 33, and 35 Corniche Road are three houses built between 1897 and 1899 by Jonathan Simpson. They are constructed of brick with some plaster and feature a tiled roof. The buildings are one storey with an attic and have three bays. The first bay has a jettied gabled first floor, while the other bays have deep eaves over bay windows that form canopies over the entrances. A bressumer extends across the facade. The windows have leaded casements with roundels, and the ground floor includes four-light rectangular bay windows, with the first two being paired. The first floor has a three-light window in the first bay and a flat-topped roof dormer with paired four-light windows. The entrances feature overlights and doors with two flush panels. There is one stack in the roof pitch and another at the gable end. A rainwater head is dated 1897. The rear of the houses is similar, with dormers and privies.
