Description

This is a terrace of five houses at 28-36 Park Road, Bebington, built in 1895 by William Owen as part of the Port Sunlight model village. The houses are constructed of brick with terracotta dressings, some pebbledash and timber framing, and have tile roofs. They are two storeys high and five bays wide, with the central three bays featuring Dutch gables. The first bay has a pebbledash first floor, while the end bay has a timber-framed first floor. A cornice runs along the ground floor, and a sill course and cornice are present on the first floor of the central three bays. The windows feature leaded glazing; the ground floor has double-chambered mullioned windows with brick mullions and four lights in the central bays, whereas the end bays have five-light canted bay windows with blind traceried heads. The first floor has paired two-light mullioned windows with decorative heads and segmental pediments, and the end bays feature three-light casements in gabled half dormers. The entrances have lintels with cambered heads and foliated spandrels, and are complemented by four-panel doors with leaded lights. The central entrances have flat canopies, while the end bays are set within recessed porches with low walls, squat columns, and decorated bressumers. There are two lateral chimneys, one projecting as a buttress, and three cross-axial chimneys with corbelling and water spouts. The rear elevation is similar and includes privies.
