Description

The sculpture known as the Sphinx is located on the lawn in front of numbers 5 to 19 (odd) Bath Street in Port Sunlight. It was likely created around 1896. The base is made of concrete and was originally covered with stucco. It features a stone cap and a female sphinx, although the head of the sphinx is missing. The cap is decorated with an anthemion frieze and cornice, and there have been concrete repairs made to the sculpture.
