BILLINGE CHAPEL END CARR MILL ROAD SJ 59 NW (west side) 4/13 Otters Swift Farm Building - to east of barn

Stable and cart shed. 1860s. Rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings; slate roof. 1st bay has C20 openings. 3-bay cart shed has iron columns supporting eaves; roof trusses with iron tie rods. End stable has stone-coped gable. Windows and entrance have lintels. Upper pitching opening with arched head and flanking ventilation slits. End octagonal stair turret has cornice and pyramidal roof with weather vane. An unusual example of a farm building given architectural pretension.
