Description
Otters Swift Farm Building, located to the east of the barn, is a stable and cart shed built in the 1860s. It is constructed from rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The first bay has 20th-century openings. The three-bay cart shed is supported by iron columns at the eaves and has roof trusses with iron tie rods. The end stable has a stone-coped gable, and both windows and the entrance are topped with lintels. There is an upper pitching opening with an arched head and flanking ventilation slits. An octagonal stair turret at the end has a cornice and a pyramidal roof topped with a weather vane. This building is an unusual example of a farm structure that exhibits architectural pretension.
